  On Nakai Plateau, more than 6000 persons were relocated as a result of the Nam Theun 2 dam construction. The project has committed itself to alleviate poverty and raise living standards for these communities. The program recognises the important role that improved agricultural capabilities has in livelihood security and natural resources management and has included agricultural development as one of its main pillars of operationThis paper provides an analysis of cassava cultivation and the characteristics of Nakai Plateau cultivation, alongside with a review of the key factors that affect its sustainability.
